Nothing cheers me more than when my bank or a credit institution claims that I made an error. One particular error pleases me more than others, it’s the one that occurs every time I pay my my credit card bill.
Error: Please enter an amount in dollars and cents. Be sure to use a decimal point. For example: 1234.56 or 413.00 or 1,234.78 or 345,678.00 [see here]
I entered 300
I think it’s a bit of an overstatement to call what I entered an error … just because they lack the courage to either make the assumption that I though .00 to be assumed or simply ask me to verify the amount they would guess I had intended to enter. Calling it an Error is taking things a bit far. No wonder many people are terrified of computers if they keep being programmed to blame users for things that could have been though out a little more, or at the very least explain beforehand that they expect the amount in dollars and cents.
